Buttermilk Scones

Ingredients

  • 3½ tablespoons butter
  • 220ml Pauls Buttermilk
  • 250g plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons castor sugar
  • 2½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon bi-carb soda

Method

  1. Melt butter and combine with buttermilk.
  2. Sift dry ingredients in a bowl and make a well in the centre.
  3. Add the buttermilk mixture and stir until just combined.
  4. Turn onto a floured board and knead lightly.
  5. Roll out to about 2cm thick and cut into scones (do not turn the cutter).
  6. Place scones close together on a lightly greased baking tray.
  7. Bake at 230°C for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Serve warm with strawberry jam and Pauls Dollop Style Thickened Cream.
